Loving Life with Our Boys: Chicago Marathon!

Last weekend was the Chicago Marathon and this was the first year that we have ever gone downtown to watch it. We have a good friend, Jason, who was running in it so we were excited to go down and be his "cheering section." Jill, Jason, Avery and Lauren made the trip out here for the weekend. We took the kids to the pumpkin patch Saturday. It was a really hot day and I think everyone in Lake County was at Didier Farms! The kids rode a few rides and then the meltdowns started. We quickly picked our pumpkins and got out of there!

Sunday was race day! Jill and I made shirts for all of us to wear so hopefully Jason would spot us somewhere along the route. Jeff drove downtown with Grant, Cooper, and our gigantic stroller, while Jill and I took the big kids on the train downtown. We met up at the halfway point in front of Union Station and waited for Jason to run by. Sure enough we spotted him and all cheered as loud as we could, but unfortunately he didn't see us. We were all so excited that we actually spotted him! We had planned on going further down the route to see him again, but unfortunately we didn't think things through enough to realize we were on the wrong side of the street and there was no way we were getting across with the massive amounts of runners! So we found a grassy spot in the middle of the city, let the kids run around and then ventured to the finish line to meet up with him at the end. We found Jason after he had finished the race in an amazing time of 3:10:24!!! We had so much fun experiencing the Chicago Marathon and cheering on a good friend. It was an amazing day!
