What Season Is It???

We had snow on the ground this morning, ice on the driveway, and it stayed below freezing for most of the day.  Where did spring go?

Since there is already confusion on what season we are in, I thought why not add some more.  Jackson and I were looking for something to do a few days ago and this is the project we ended up doing...doesn't everyone make gingerbread houses in March?

Snuggle Time

Being a mom is the most rewarding, fun, challenging, exhausting job I have ever had.  We have our good days and our not so good days but at the end of every day, no matter how tired I am, I am so thankful for the life I have been given.  Today was one of those challenging days where nothing goes quite the way I would have planned or expected, but I'm learning to look for the positive in every situation to try to keep myself from getting too frustrated.  Grant struggled with napping today.  Poor guy was so exhausted he didn't know what to do with himself.  He was bouncing up and down in his crib, screaming to get out.  After trying to "wait it out" and trying to calm him down in his room, I finally took him into our bed and snuggled with him.  In less than five minutes he was sound asleep.  I had been so frustrated with him for not napping, and all he needed was snuggle time with Mom.  He slept on me for an hour and I enjoyed every minute of it, even if it meant I didn't get to my "mommy list" of things to do.  Snuggling with Grant was much more fun than anything on my list.  Maybe I need to put "snuggle time" on my list permanently!

Just the Boys

Last weekend I took a trip (by myself!) back to Iowa to visit my dear friend who just had a baby.  Jeff and the boys stayed home for a "dude's weekend."  We talked multiple times everyday, so I was getting updates every few hours on all that was going on.  I think they all had a great time and enjoyed having some "guy" time, but I sure missed them.  I cherished the time I spent with my family and friends.  It was definitely a welcomed break, but I was ready to get home.  In fact, I might have made it back in record time, don't worry no speeding tickets were issued though. :)

Camping

Over the last couple of days, Jackson has gotten this idea that he wants to go camping. Jeff has explained that we have to wait until it's warmer outside to camp, but he is so excited, he wants to go now! Today we had some neighborhood kids stop by our house selling something for a school fundraiser. They mentioned something about summer and Jackson pipes up, "We won't be here in the summer. We'll be camping!" Little does he know, his mommy is not much of a camper. Although, I sense that I'm going to have to learn to be a camper real soon. This weekend, I'm taking off to go visit a friend and her new baby, so Jeff and the boys will be home alone. Jeff says it's a "dude's weekend." I have a funny feeling there may be some "camping" in the family room while I'm gone. I know they will have a great time, but I hope they miss their mommy, just a little bit anyway!
