Fathers

"A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assests in our society."  Billy Graham

"Sometimes the poorest man leaves his children the richest inheritance."  Ruth E. Renkel

"By the time a man realizes that maybe his father was right, he usually has a son who thinks he's wrong."  Charles Wadsworth
(Some of the quotes from our bulletin at church on Father's Day)

We had a special day planned for Jeff on Father's Day filled with playtime, naptime, dinnertime, and cake time!!!

Thanks for being the best Daddy in the universe!  We love to read books with you, wrestle with you, go to the park with you, tell jokes with you, race you from one side of the house to the other.  Most of all we love that you love each one of us and make us feel special every day.
Love from your boys,
jackson, grant, and cooper

Music Time

Jackson always loves to see Uncle Matt.
 #1 Uncle Matt is cool!
#2  Uncle Matt always bring an instrument with him.
This last visit was no different.  Here he is "jammin" with Uncle Matt on the ukelele.

Gone Fishin

I have been a bad blogger!  Why has it been so hard to sit down and record all the happenings in our life?  LIFE is busy these days and I just haven't been able to catch a minute.  I have so much to catch up on, starting with Jackson.  How I love and cherish this little boy.  He is just a sweet boy that recaptures my heart everyday.  I have heard lots of "I love yous" in the last couple of weeks and it melts my heart every time he tells me.  Jack had a special day with Grandpa while we were back in Iowa over Memorial Day.  Grandpa took Jackson fishing for the first time.  They headed down to the pond with a Cars fishing pole, some worms, and Grandpa's tackle box.
Jackson was so excited to fish, but he kept his distance as Grandpa put the worms on the hook.  He was ready and willing to help hold the fishing pole and reel in the fish though.  Excitement was written all over his face when they knew they had caught one!
As soon as that fish popped out of the water, Jackson was out of there!!  As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words!
Here are the two proud fishermen with their first catch.
And their second catch...
They went on to catch about a dozen of these little blue gills.  Jackson had so much fun, and even mustered up enough bravery to touch one of the fish.  I was so proud of him!
Thanks Grandpa for making a special memory for Jackson and for me too. :)

Family Reunion & The Flu

Ugh, the flu bug has hit our house!  So far Jackson is the only one that has been sick but it has been a long drawn out thing and we are ready for him to be healthy.  After two nights of cleaning up throw up in the middle of the night, I'm hopeful that tonight will be a mess-free night!  Now we're just praying that no one else gets it.  Can we be that lucky??

I haven't had time to sit down and share about our Memorial Day travels, so here goes.  We had a great weekend!  We spent the weekend back in Iowa with family.  We attended the "S" Family Reunion, which we haven't been to in four years!  I can't imagine how Grandma Dolores was feeling that day.  She had all of her family except for three people in one room.  Forty-six of us, including 18 great grandchildren!!  Wow, I hope one day I can experience that feeling.  The boys had a great time playing with cousins they had met for the first time.  The weather was pretty crummy, but it stopped raining long enough for the kids to get outside and play in the puddles, which was probably the highlight of the day for my boys.  Of course, the afternoon came to end with the boys crying because they didn't want to leave.  They were so so so tired they didn't know what to do with themselves.  I think Grant was asleep before we were out of the parking lot.
Grandma Dolores and 17 of her 18 great grandchildren (little Cara was napping, and Cooper is in the picture but you can't see him, he's next to Grant)

Another shot of the great grandchildren.  You can see Cooper in this one, but not Grant.

My three boys busy playing in the big puddle while the big kids were trying to play softball.
Cooper literally bent over and stuck his head in the puddle!  They were all soaked!

The ride home...all of the boys stripped own to their diapers, Cooper got to keep his shirt on.
Sunday was spent with my parents.  Jackson had an adventurous day with Grandpa, but I will save that story for my next post.  I'm exhausted from this long week, and too tired to put the rest of the pictures out here.  Here's hoping for a full night of sleep!
