Firestation Visit

If you stop by our house on any given day you will probably find my boys playing superheroes or firefighters.  They run around the house saving people and catching the bad guys all day long.  Sometimes with capes and fire boots, sometimes without.  So the boys were more than thrilled when we got a personal invitation to tour a local firestation.  Our friends' dad is a firefighter and loves to have kids come to his firestation and show them around, so we arranged for a Sunday afternoon to go and visit Firefighter Larry.  When we got there Jackson didn't know where to look first!  He was on cloud 9!  He ran from the truck to the ambulance and back again, over and over and over.  Grant and Cooper loved it too and wanted to test out all the seats in the truck.  The boys got to go in the firehouse and see where the firefighters sleep, eat, and even watch TV.  While we were in the firehouse there was a "call" from the dispatcher welcoming the boys to the firestation.  When it was time to leave, poor  Jackson was devastated!  He was on such a high, he just didn't want to leave and was super sad when we had to say goodbye to Firefighter Larry and his firehouse.  I think he was ready to move in.  Jeff and I would be very proud of him if he became a firefighter someday but not for about 20 years or so.

We had a great time and really appreciate the great firefighters at Station 5 taking time out of their day to show our boys around!

Milestone

We have hit a big milestone recently at our house.  Grant and Cooper are out of their cribs and into a big boy bed!  I was really nervous the first night thinking none of us would get much sleep, but I was pleasantly surprised!  All three of the boys share one room.  Jackson is in a twin bed and we have put the little boys in a double mattress on the floor.  Our plan is to do a twin/full bunk bed, but we thought we would try this out first and make sure Grant and Coop could share one mattress without rolling all over  each other.  We have pillows shoved under the fitted sheet right down the middle of the mattress so they have a visual mark of where their "side" of the bed is.  The first night, Cooper came up with many excuses why he needed Mommy to come in the room.  I need to go potty (he's not even potty trained!), I want to get in my crib, I can't find my blankie...and so on.  But within an hour everyone was quiet and asleep...not too bad!  They slept all night, on their own side of the bed, and didn't wake up until 6:30 am.  I call that a success!  Naps have been a different story.  I think naptime is going to be a bigger adjustment than bedtime.  I am hopeful that they will adjust quickly, but I am realistic and know that they are on their own time schedules. :)

It has now been two weeks, and they are still doing well.  They usually need a few reminders at night to be quiet and leave each other alone, but that's not much different than when they were in their cribs.

Here they are sleeping on their own sides.

Here they are snuggling.  This reminds me of when they were newborns and sleeping in the same bassinet at the hospital.

We love our big boy bed!

I love you brother!
It feels strange to not have a crib in the house after having at least one crib since the beginning of 2007.  It's a little sad, but it's exciting as well to think of all the big boy adventures that are ahead.

Look Who's Driving

The boys have gotten into this pattern lately of only playing with the little Cozy Coupes in our driveway.  They each get in one and drive up and down the driveway pretending they are either police officers or firefighters.

Can you tell they are having a serious meeting!
