Three Months!

Cal turned three months on Saturday and he celebrated it with the stomach flu!  Thank goodness it was very short lived, but it was a little frightening seeing all of those bodily fluids come out of my teeny little guy.  And now that he has recovered from that he has caught his first cold.  It's not too bad of a cold, but it kept him up the other night because it was hard for him to breathe.  It's amazing he stayed germ free for as long as he did considering at least one family member has been sick every day since the day he was born.  Seriously...enough with the germs!

Cal continues to brighten our days and keep us smiling.  He is such a sweet baby and for the most part he is pretty easy going.

Weight: 12 lbs, 4 oz

Eating:  You continue to be breast fed.  You eat every three hours during the day, and you are starting to become a more efficient eater.  I love the snuggle time, but its getting shorter and shorter.  You typically eat for the last time at 9 or 10pm and sleep until 7am. You are okay with bottles even though you don't have them that often.  You still take about 4 oz in your bottle.  You are still spitting up, some days its a lot and other days not so much.   However, with this cold you seem to be spitting up more.

Sleeping:  You are an amazing nighttime sleeper, thank you!  You go to bed for the night around 10 or 10:30 (even though some nights you've been sleeping from 8:00 on, only to wake up an do a quick feeding).  You typically wake up around 7:00 AM, although you have slept until 8:00 a handful of times.  It always seems to be on the weekends that you sleep longer, you are so sweet to your mom and dad! :)  You are still sleeping in the pack-n-play in our room, but I think you will be ready for your crib soon.  During the day you are not much of a sleeper.  You sleep best when you are in your carseat or when you are held.  I've been trying to lay you down in your crib in your room during nap times to get you used to the surroundings, but I'm lucky if you sleep for 30-45 minutes.  You love to hear the ocean waves when you go to sleep (just like your dad).

Milestones:  You are smiling more everyday.  You have started to giggle although not much sound comes out.  You want to laugh so desperately, its so cute!  You are cooing and making lots of fun noises.  You have just recently started batting your hands at things and reaching, although you reach with a fist.  You can hold on to things (blankets, burp cloth, rattles) but you let go pretty quickly.  You don't love tummy time but you are getting so much stronger and holding your head up so much longer.  You can track with your eyes, especially when its your brothers that you are watching.  This month was filled with lots of snow and cold days so we have been homebound a lot!  We had four "cold" days in January when school was cancelled because it was so frigid (-40 wind chills, -10 temps).  We have so much snow outside the piles of snow are reaching the bottom of our windows and the top of the fence.  We had visits from both grandparents this month and you went to your first swim meet to cheer on Jackson.

  3. Adorable Steph, just adorable! Love reading about what he is doing. So jealous of the sleep thing. Hattie still likes to get up. Mostly out of habit for her and I.
